Comment Spam
Unless many of you have decided to start selling Viagra in your online pharmacy, comment spam has become a problem for CAAFlog. Fighting these nuisance posts is a time-consuming distraction. To alleviate the problem, I’ve installed a reCAPTCHA widget in the comment form:
If you get illegible words, you can refresh the reCAPTCHA box by clicking the refresh button.
reCAPTCHA doesn’t require a perfect response; it recognizes that some letters look like others. An incorrect response will refresh the comment page and your comment will be lost (the comment box will reappear empty). To recover your comment text, click your browser’s back button. You will have to refresh the reCAPTCHA box before you can continue.
For anyone interested in the technology, reCAPTCHA was profiled on NPR a year ago.
The best part of subscribing to the RSS feed of the new CAAFlog is all the interesting offers for products and services. Did not even know I needed some of this great stuff.
For those who don’t do RSS, is there a way to add a sidebar that shows what posts have been commented on lately (and who the commenter is)?
Since it’s kind of slow on CAAFLOG in the summer…..If you don’t mind me asking, who are you….I’m just curious..

Your technology frightens me. What is this so-called internet you speak of? Is it the same as doing the Goggle? The only spam I know of is a savory pork product packed in gelatinous goo and is simply irresistible.
Doing the Goggle will get you five to ten.

What is the deal with the math spam protection? Is this intended to keep Marines from commenting? Please keep the aggregate of these two numbers under 20, as that represents the total number of fingers and toes we can summon to our aid to solve such formulae.
