Multi-National Division–North’s pregnancy ban to be scrapped
Thanks to the commentator who called our attention to this Reuters article reporting that Multi-National Division – North’s General Order No. 1, which forbids “becoming pregnant, or impregnating a Soldier, while assigned to the Task Force Marne AOR, resulting in the redeployment of the pregnant Soldier,” will be displaced by a higher-headquarters general order effective 1 January 2010. General Odierno, who is issuing the new order, indicated that it will not include a pregnancy ban.

Common sense prevails. I really hope there is no impregnating going on between now and 1 January 2010 — MG Cucolo’s GO 1 still has validity until then.
I’m glad someone finally exercised some sense and put an end to this nonsense.
I don’t think anyone has answered the questions of who was the SJA, and was this ever submitted for legal review?
As far as the Soldiers who were reprimanded, even though the reprimands were filed locally, I hope those reprimands go away for good.
For those who don’t know the ins and outs of the MJ system, sometimes (especially in cases like these where the legality of the order is HIGHLY dubious), Soldiers get letters of reprimand because the commanders know if NJP (Article 15 or Captain’s Mast for the sailors) is offered it is likely to be turned down and a court-martial demanded, and the military judge will rule that the order is unlawful (in this case, constitutional violation), and then the Government looks REALLY stupid.
