Who knew the Army Court of Criminal Appeals had a judge shortage?  So says Mississippi Court of Appeals Judge Virginia Carlton, one of the reservists activated to fill the void, see Mississippi Clarion Ledger story here.  Judge Carlton is quoted in the story saying, “Deployments in support of the global war on terrorism created a temporary staffing shortage on the Army’s intermediate appellate court, and a backlog of cases resulted.”

I dunno what shortage- they dont look too busy to me. No one up there has deployed in thier current jobs- not much of a need for appellate judges downrange. It seems she has been certified to the court for two months tho.

Snuffy, 2 months does not seem like much security in office for someone exercising judicial functions. If any lurkers can shed light on this, it will be a public service. I’d like to know if this report is true or false.
