Updating our earlier coverage of a Coast Guard boat that struck a civilian boat during Charleston’s Holiday Parade of Boats, the Post and Courier reports here that an NTSB investigation into the collision found that one of the crew members was texting just before the collision.  The story doesn’t say if the crew member was coxswain, a fact that seems relatively important.  The P&C says that the CG District Commander still hasn’t decided on disciplinary action.  According to the report, however, the Coast Guard did implement a new policy on texting while piloting a boat.
