I need a little help from our readership.  It appears that a few document links are being removed/broken for various documents considered by the Independent Panel established by Sec. 506 of the FY2010 NDAA to review the judge advocate requirements of the Dept. of the Navy, see my prior post here.  I tried the WayBack Machine to get archived versions of the documents but was denied.  Anyone know how to get old documents from a webpage or why these Independent Panel documents are disappearing from the web?

Mike you sound like Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory. Most of the stuff out there yesterday on the federal website was extremely dated. Like early 90s.

Anon–The materials were dated, ok, and so what? It was interesting and I wanted to read it as it had never been publicy available to my knowledge. Also, the outline of materials link itself is broken–ED. Note: it is now a back up at a new page and the link is below. I changed the link to a version I had.

And if you copmpare it to the new linked document, the outline has been changed and all those historical documents in Section E have been removed. New link here: http://www.fido.gov/facadatabase/docs_meetings/2010-73653-177332_1.%20document%20index_(2010-08-31-16-30-52).doc

But the NAVJAG and SJA to the CMC Briefs are available, https://www.fido.gov/facadatabase/docs_meetings/2010-73653-177332_JAG%20506%20Panel%20Brief%20FINAL%2031%20Aug%2010_(2010-08-31-16-21-52).pdf, https://www.fido.gov/facadatabase/docs_meetings/2010-73653-177332_SJA%20to%20CMC%20Brief%201%20Sept%202010_(2010-08-31-12-25-45).pdf, and https://www.fido.gov/facadatabase/docs_meetings/2010-73653-177332_Statement%20of%20SJA%20to%20CMC%20(31%20Aug%2010)_(2010-08-31-09-11-17).pdf.

    No Man,
Looks like the JAGs putting together the document review for the panel concluded those old memos weren’t appropriate for consideration. Memory Hole indeed!

You linked to the WORD document that summarized the documents as of a few days ago. Appears that document is updated each day with the new documents added (and deleting those not to be considered).

Best way to get to the currently available documents is to drill down through the site rather than link to the word doc.

    – Link to http://www.fido.gov/facadatabase/public.asp.

    – Hit the Committees Search button and type-in 73653.

Current documents are under the meetings header.
