First we saw a piece from the “Grand Dame” of GTMO (not sure she’d like to be called that), the Miami Herald’s Carol Rosenberg, with word that a plea deal may again be in the works for Omar Khadr, the youngest of the detainees at Guantanamo. Then we saw this from Human Rights First and got a notice from the Office of Military Commissions that Khadr’s trial date has slipped to October 25. Looks like the Canadian government and the US government are working out a plan to close the chapter on Guantanamo housing detainees who were minors at the time of their alleged offenses.
