The Sydney Morning Herald reports that the chief prosecutor for Australian forces has directed two Australian Special Ops soldiers be court-martialed for killing several Afghans during a nighttime operation in the Oruzgan Province.  See additional coverage here.

    It seems the Aussie’s have a sytem where a civilian has “preferred” these changes rather than a military commander. Despite some well-deserved criticisms at times, I think one of the strengths of our system is that we judge our own – how can a civilian truly understand the environment a military member operates in?
