The Virginian-Pilot reports here on the latest news from the Board of Inquiry into CAPT Owen Honors actions and retention. According to the Virginian-Pilot, “[t]he panel’s members are Rear Adm. Brian C. Prindle, commander of the Naval Safety Center; Rear Adm. Dennis E. FitzPatrick, commander of Strike Force Training Atlantic; and Rear Adm. Walter E. Carter, commander of the Joint Enabling Capabilities Command. All three are naval aviators, and Carter and FitzPatrick, like Honors, are fighter pilots who have commanded aircraft carriers.”. Joint Enabling Capabilities Command? That must be the creation of too many systems engineers with a little extra budget–and apparently a left-over of the now defunct JFCOM.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports, here, that the court martial of SPC Aaron Rentfrow began Monday on charges of murder and kidnapping in the death of his wife. We’ll cut the reporter a little slack for the obvious miljus reporting issue in the third sentence, “The court-marital convened Monday morning and is expected to begin selecting a five-member panel of jurors this morning. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.” I am assuming the case is still non-capital, prior post here.
