New Stolen Valor Act passes the Senate
Sen. Jim Webb’s amendment to the 2014 NDAA amending the Stolen Valor Act struck down by the Supreme Court earlier this year passed the Senate yesterday. According to AF Times, here, the Senate bill “makes it a federal crime to make a false claim about having served in the military or having received a military decoration if the object of the lie is personal gain.” The Senate bill is broader than the House version, which limits penalties to false claims for personal gain about a small group of military decorations.
