CNN and other sources are reporting this morning that confessed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed will be tried in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The court, in New York City, will also be the venue for the trials of four others accused of planning the 9/11 attacks — Ramzi Bin al-Shibh, Walid bin Attash, Ali Abdul Aziz Ali and Mustafa Ahmed al-Hawsawi.

UPDATE:  Attorney General Eric Holder confirmed the reports with an announcement this morning.  The U.S. will seek the death penalty against all five defendants.

They’re going to need an awfully big tent for this circus.

The AG also announced 5 cases would remain at the military commissions.

Maybe they will try Hasan there too. Hopefully not seeking the death penalty, as he is now paralyzed. Rather than 70 virgins, his fate wull be to brine in his own urine for the next 50 years.

They should give him the death penalty even if he is paralized. If I were Hasan I’d be begging for it also because in his fanatical mind he can die a “martyr”

One of the first spectacles in the upcoming circus will no doubt be an unlawful command influence type of motion, based upon the President’s comments today:

“I don’t think it will be offensive at all when he’s convicted and when the death penalty is applied to him,” Obama told NBC’s Chuck Todd.

Whoops. I seem to recall another President making the same mistake with regard to Charles Manson.

Interesting exchange b/t Sen. Graham and AG Holder. Sen. Graham does raise a good question regarding what would the administration do if we caught Bin Laden. What court would prosecute him?
